FANS

Boreham Wood manager Ian Allinson has spoken this morning to media manager Grant Morris and has a simple message to our supporters, town and his players..

Allinson said “Today we face Grimsby who are one of the bigger and best sides in this division. Forget about the points difference between the sides at present, as that’s completely false, we will be meeting the champions or play off incumbents for sure”.

“We know we are a country mile behind them as a club and we accept that. However like Tranmere two weeks ago they are not unbeatable. Yes we’re going to need a monumental effort by everyone, that is only to be expected but the pressure is on the visitors as they will have 800 fans to please today and that’s not always easy”.

“So we need our fans to turn up and we need them to get vocal, the players are hard working and talented but cannot do it alone.. Our players do need our fans support to feed off and if our lot do get behind us like they did up at Tranmere and Dover, then who knows the upset could be on??”

“As I’ve said we know we’re the underdogs and in years past playing Grimsby would only of been in the FA Cup first round proper but it’s not, it’s a league game with three points up for grabs”.

“Underdog though is just a label and is not something that phases us, we’re more than capable of getting a result today and I’m confident we’ll give a good account of ourselves.. We’ve had them watched twice, they have good players in all areas and they score goals but we know what we have to do and we will set ourselves up accordingly”..

“All I ask is that our supporters rally behind us, that they get on the phone this morning and drag a friend or a member of the family down to Meadow park… Think about it for a minute, GRIMSBY TOWN are coming to Meadow Park for a league game, what a thought that is and it shows just how far we’ve come and we want a result “. Allinson concluded..
