Berkhamstead Under 18’s 1 – 3 Boreham Wood Under 18’s
Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League – Corinthian Division
Wednesday 8th January 2012 – Kick off 7.30pm

Boreham Wood’s Under 18’s travelled to Berkhamstead on Wednesday night for their first game of the New Year, picking up all 3 points to continue their unbeaten league record this campaign.

‘Wood’ took the lead after just 3 minutes when front man Steve O’Connor scored from the penalty spot. The ‘Wood’ youngsters soon doubled the score line when Sam Doolan picked out striker Dean Rubinia from a free kick, who turned and finished with ease.

‘Wood’ continued their dominance and widened their advantage with a third, when Steve O’Connor calmly finished Matt Roles’ cross to claim his brace.

It looked like ‘Wood’ were going to enter the interval with a 3 goal advantage, but Berkhamstead clawed a goal back just before half time from the penalty spot, when defender Billy Goggin was deemed to be holding a Berkhamstead player inside the box.

‘Wood’ showed a mature second half performance by remaining resilient and soaked up any Berkhamstead pressure. Boreham Wood currently sit one point behind league leaders Newport Pagnell with 5 games in hand, after recording 6 wins and 1 draw from their 7 games so far.
