Boreham Wood played out a solid 0-0 draw with Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose, as they continued their unbeaten run in all competitions.

It was a match of half-chances, as the Wood nullified the SIlkmen’s threat, who had sat in second place in the National League prior to the fixture.

Keiran Murtagh, Mark Ricketts and Ricky Shakes started in the three midfield positions, with Tom Champion, Dean Wells and Dave Stephens in the back three.

It was a quiet start to the match, with the opening chance coming as Bruno Andrade crossed for Champion, but it was sent wide.

Macclesfield had an early free-kick, in a dangerous position, but Elliot Durrell struck it straight against the wall.

On the counter, Andrade sent the ball through the legs of Keith Lowe, but he was then beaten to the return ball by a second defender.

The home side began to pile on the pressure; Durrell had an initial effort blocked, before Scott Wilson blasted wide.

Danny Whittaker broke for Macclesfield and found himself one-on-one with Grant Smith, but Dean Wells was back to block his attempt.

Danny Whitehead then thumped an ambitious strike from 25-yards that tested Smith, who had to be at his best to push it wide.

Andrade was at the heart of Boreham Wood’s attack and drove a low shot from distance, but it was narrowly wide.

The Portuguese forward then played a corner short to Kane Smith and received it back, he tried to bustle his way around the full-back, but was dispossessed.

The host’s had their best chance of the match midway through the second half, as Lloyd met Durrell’s cross, but he saw his header blocked and sent wide.

With the game still goalless, Andrade then saw a half volley sail wide, from a difficult position.

Holman received the ball midway into the host’s half, looked up and attempted an audacious lob of the Silkmen stopper, but it drifted over the crossbar.

Murtagh and Holman both went close twice more, with the former’s header striking the crossbar. Holman then saw a long-range strike frustratingly blocked.

Shakes broke into the opposition box and met a low cross, firing it at goal first time, but it was blocked.
