Ricky ShakesBoreham Wood Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of wideman come striker Ricky Shakes following his departure from Kidderminster Harriers.

Wood fought off stiff competition from several other clubs to land the front man’s signature, securing his services on a one year contract with a 1 year further option. Making him Ian Allinson’s second summer signing following the arrival of Mark Bentley.

The 28 year old has a great pedigree having begun his career at Bolton Wanderers and made his debut in an FA Cup third-round replay against Tranmere Rovers, scoring a last-minute equaliser to take the match into extra time.

After spells on loan with Bristol Rovers and Bury, Shakes joined Swindon Town in July 2005 and went on to make 77 appearances before being released at the end of the 06/07 season. He then joined Brentford in August 07 and scored on his debut against Bury making 39 appearances, before a switch to the then Conference National side Ebbsfleet United.

Shakes spent three and half seasons with Ebbsfleet experiencing relegation and promotion, before transferring back to the Conference National last season by joining Kidderminster Harriers and helping them to a 2nd place finish.

Allinson expressed his delight on getting Shakes and said. “I’ve had a number of targets and Ricky was one of my top 3, so I’m delighted to secure his services for the next two seasons. I know we’re not fancied but were a very well-run club, we’ve settled on the shape of the side already, the squad will be strengthened now silly season is over and by the time the season starts we’ll be ready to compete”. He concluded

Boreham Wood TV will be catching up with Ricky and the other players in the coming days for an exclusive interview.
