This Saturday Wood make one of the stand out trips of their season with a visit to the historic Racecourse Ground to face the Red Devils. When the two sides met for the first ever time back in September it was Connor Jennings who scored the only goal of the game to send Wood into the bottom four, whilst lifting his side to 3rd in the table just five points off the summit. That day Joe Devera made his Wood debut, the ex Portsmouth player going on to form part of one of the meanest defences in the League.

Since then no side has been able to match the consistency showed by either Cheltenham Town or Forest Green Rovers who have seemingly turned the title into a two horse race. Jennings has enjoyed a fine season. Made Captain by manager Gary Mills he top scores with twelve goals.

Wrexham are enjoying a fine run at present having gone unbeaten throughout the month of February, which earned Jennings the accolade of Player of the Month. Their unbeaten run stretches to 7 outings, they last tasted defeat at home on January 9th, when Woking joined Southport, Macclesfield and Eastleigh as the only sides to leave North Wales with maximum points. Currently sitting 8th in the table, five points outside the play offs Mill’s knows their destiny is in their own hands.

The same can be said for Luke Garrard whose side continue to frustrate sides away from home. A magnificent run of five games on the road undefeated without conceding a single goal forms part of an away record of conceding just fourteen goals in seventeen outings, a record that only League leaders Cheltenham Town can match.

Regarding goalscoring options, the addition of Danny Haynes on loan from Ebbsfleet United, who came through a good debut at Barrow on Tuesday will be an incentive to push the side on to hopefully a second season at National level. Haynes featured for Ipswich Town, before moving on to Bristol City, Barnsley and Charlton Athletic.
