Hitchin Town v Boreham Wood

Match Preview,

by John Mead.

Just 48 hours on from our impressive 2-0 win against Watford, the first team travel to Top Field tomorrow night to compete for a place in the Herts FA Senior Cup Final.

Wood Boss Ian Allinson has expressed his desire for “ Putting some silverware on the shelf”, with Wood’s last gain being the Ryman League Play Off Final Trophy four seasons ago.

With Skrill South safety almost a done deal given our recent run of results, the club turn its attention briefly to a competition they last won in 2007-2008 season, coming from 2 goals down to defeat Ware 5-2 on the night.

That match featured Greg Morgan, one of only two players in the current squad, alongside Mario Noto who played when The Canaries and Wood last met on Guy Fawkes night last season. There was little in the way of fireworks from us going down 3-0 immediately after our massive game against Brentford in the F A Cup.

Wood will be mindful of Callum Donnelly, a player the Gaffer knows from his Stotfold days. His two memorable long range goals along with a late third from the since departed John Frendo sealing the tie.

Hitchin last won the Cup in 1997 when they beat us 4-1 in the final. The winners will meet Bishops Stortford who have already booked a place in both the Herts Senior and Charity Cup finals this season.

It promises to be a night of serious Cup football and the boys would love to make it a night to remember for the fans, so why not make the trip up county and cheer them on to victory!

Herts F A Senior Cup Semi Final, Thursday March 27th, kick off 7.45pm
