Boreham Wood vs Ebbsfleet United
Saturday, 20th April 2024, 12:15 pm
Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park, Vanarama National League
PREVIEW
The Wood welcome Ebbsfleet United to Meadow Park tomorrow afternoon for ‘Survival Saturday’ under the gaze of the TNT Sports cameras. It’s winner stays up and Luke Garrard’s men need your backing in one final push to end the season on a high, to avoid the drop and to give the gaffer a great send off. Let’s pack the park!
Our last meeting with the Fleet came in the back end of September where the Wood were on the losing side. Ebbsfleet took a 2-0 lead through O’Neill and McQueen before Angelo Balanta fired home to get Luke Garrard’s side. However, the Wood would go down to 10 men as Billy Sass-Davies saw red. The Fleet would capitalise on their man advantage with McQueen completing a brace, the game ending 3-1 to the home side. The Fleet, as it stands, sit 19th in the table, 2 places above and 2 points better off than the Wood. Dennis Kutrieb’s side, therefore, are also fighting to retain their National status and are sure to provide a big test at Meadow Park tomorrow afternoon.
FORM GUIDE
Ebbsfleet United – D-L-L-W-D
Despite form going out of the window tomorrow, the Fleet have not experienced the best run of form recently. Dennis Kutrieb’s side have only picked up 1 win in their last 5, while both drawing and losing twice. The Fleet kicked off their month with a trip to East London where they faced Dagenham & Redbridge. Former Wood man, Josh Rees, opened the scoring for the Daggers late on and, as it looked like the home side would take all 3 points, Billy Clifford levelled the score for the Fleet at the death, in the 95th minute. After sharing the points with the Daggers, the Fleet would take all 3 points from their following game at home to a 10 man Fylde side. Benjamin Scott Chapman bagged a brace in the game with Gerald McCullion pulling one back for the Coasters on 85 minutes. It would be too little too late for the Lancashire side, however, as the game ultimately ended 2-1 to the Fleet.
Dennis Kutrieb’s side would then make the trip to the midlands where they would take on promotion chasing Solihull Moors, but the Fleet would fail to build on their win over Fylde as the Moors ran out 3-0 winners thanks to a brace from Tyrese Shade and a goal from Jamey Osborne. We then go back to last Saturday where the Fleet returned to action at the Stonebridge Road Stadium. However, the Fylde result would almost be repeated as Dennis Kutrieb’s men were beaten 2 goals to nil by Altrincham. In their most recent fixture, Ebbsfleet travelled to face another promotion chasing side in Halifax Town but were held to a goalless draw by the Shaymen, further denting their chances of survival.
ONES TO WATCH
Dominic Poleon:
30-year-old striker, Dominic Poleon, who joined the Fleet in February of 2021 and has previously featured for the likes of Leeds United, Sheffield United, AFC Wimbledon, Bradford City and more, has scored 72 goals in 134 total appearances for his current side, 16 goals coming this season. Poleon will no doubt be fired up for the game at Meadow Park tomorrow, the striker looking to help keep the Fleet stay in the division with his ability in front of goal.
