Boreham Wood Vs East Preston

FA CUP 2nd Qualifying Round

Saturday 27th September 2014

Meadow Park, 15.00 KO

Wood begin their FA Cup campaign this Saturday to East Preston of the Sussex County League. Our Visitors have had to overcome 3 games to reach this stage of the competition.

East Preston’s FA Cup Journey began back in August where they were drawn against Sevenoaks, A 2-1 victory was enough to see them into the next round where they faced Holmesdale. Again a 2-1 victory was enough to set up a first qualifying round match against Ryman Premier Division Side Peacehaven and Telscombe. As mighty underdogs they managed to secure a credible 0-0 draw and take the game to a replay back at The Lashmar. In the reply they more than held their own and went on to cause the upset of the round by knocking out the Ryman League side. East Preston opened the scoring in the 70th minute before sealing the tie in the 90th.

Joe Shelley and Ryan Mcbride are the hotshots for the visitors and on recent form Woods defence will have their work cut out on Saturday afternoon.

The Wood will be looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing defeat to Basingstoke Town at the weekend, despite being in control for large parts of the game. The game could have been over after 30 minutes after Wood were denied a blatant penalty then two world class saves by the ‘Stoke keeper kept Basingstoke in the game before two late goals sunk the Wood.

East Preston who are unbeaten in their league campaign will come to Meadow Park full of confidence and with the intention of causing a major upset. The Wood will have to be at their very best to be in the hat for the 3rd qualifying round draw.

Wood gaffer Ian Allinson should have a fully fit squad to choose from come Saturday.

Come down and get behind the lads as the Wood begin the road to Wembley. Your support as ever will be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you all there!

PLEASE NOTE: ALL THOSE WHO ATTEND OUR FA CUP GAME V’S EAST PRESTON ON SATURDAY WILL RECEIVE HALF PRICE ENTRY TO OUR DERBY GAME AGAINST ST. ALBANS CITY ON MONDAY, 6TH OCTOBER.
