Boreham Wood v Bath City

Match Preview,

by John Mead.

Saturday November 30th, kick off 3pm.

Romans fans will be breathing a sigh of relief given that this tie was originally rescheduled from a Saturday to a Monday night after our F A Cup run got in the way. It was then rescheduled again following our trip to Carlisle when around 50 Wood fans did midweek away day travel a service.

This tie now forms a double header with two games in a week between the two sides who only became acquainted last season for the first time. Both those games ended in 0-0 draws. There is little chance of that happening again due to a number of factors.

Factor one is the visitors current form. Romans fans must be thinking about another stab at Skrill Premier football in this their second season since relegation. They are unbeaten in seven league matches and lost by the odd goal to high flying Salisbury City in the last qualifying round of the F A Cup. Their league form sees them up in tenth with 23 points, just two points outside the play offs.

Factor two is the new look shape of our boys after Tuesday’s cut and thrust encounter with Maidenhead United. Goal less draws are not a part of our plan to climb out of a group of seven teams starting to come loose from their moorings at the wrong end of the table. A five point gap has ominously appeared between Concord Rangers and Tonbridge Angels which needs addressing in this our first of ten league matches between now and New Years Day, which is just 32 days away!

Factor three is that given both sides will have their own ball there will certainly be goals! Surely fans will flock in their thousands to witness the spectacle of Matthew Ball tearing through the middle of the park for us, whilst Dan Ball the ex Bristol City attacking left back embarks upon sortees alongside out fast developing new stand!

So why not come out and see for yourself this Saturday down at Meadow Park, kick off 3pm.

Come On The Wood!
