Boreham Wood Football Club can announce today, that our popular young striker Junior Morias has as we reported last month turned down our re engagement offer and has subsequently agreed to join our local rivals St Albans City for an undisclosed fee.

Although only playing 88 games spread over a two and a half year period. Juniors all action style, his 24 goals and his never say die attitude, made him a firm favourite with the Chairman, Manager and everyone connected with the club..

None of us who were there, will ever forget his extra time winner against Whitehawk in the 21014/15 play off final and of course the incredible celebrations??

Chairman Danny Hunter said “it’s always a sad day for a small club like ours, when a player like Junior decides to leave us. I do understand his lack of game time last season was frustrating for him but always felt he just needed a little more patience with himself, as he adapted to life in the National Premier League”..

“That said I’ve learnt over the years that players for whatever reason do move on. That teams do evolve and that’s the reality I suppose of the industry that we are in and the supporters understand that.. On a personal note I genuinely hope everything works out for Junior as he’s such a likeable character. At just 21 for him to decide to drop down a division after working so hard to get us there, is I believe a massive gamble”..

“Juniors personality will mean he just wants to play and the St Albans fans will love him. I do hope this is a stepping stone to better things for him but I have serious doubts.. My experience for what it’s worth, tells me that the grass is very rarely greener on the other side and no disrespect to his agent, Ian Allinson or St Albans City, who all conducted themselves brilliantly. I just think that Juniors lack of patience could be a massive mistake for him as a very promising young player”..

Hunter concluded “our supporters may not be happy with me but as BWFC Chairman, once Junior or any player for that matter decides to turn down a re-engagement offer, selling really is the only logical outcome for the betterment of the football club.. Tribunals are costly and in the main a waste of everyone’s time.. So once a player rejects our offer, It simply become’s a number crunching exercise to get the very best deal for Boreham Wood Football Club”..

“I’m more than happy that myself and Luke have achieved a fair compensation fee and add ons for Junior and Luke can now use every penny of that to try and improve us in the forward areas”..

ON BEHALF OF US ALL, GOOD LUCK JUNIOR AND THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES..
