Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Jamie Reckord from Wrexham AFC on an 18-month deal following the mutual cancellation of his contract at the Racecourse Ground.

Wolverhampton born and bred, Reckord graduated from the Wanderers Academy in 2010 after 9 years within the youth set up at Molyneux. During his time with the Midlands outfit, Jamie also featured for England at youth level, making 9 total appearances between 2008 and 2009 with the under 16’s and under 17’s Three Lions groups.

Despite only making a single senior appearance for his boyhood Club in the League Cup, Reckord enjoyed several Football League loans away from Molyneux with Northampton Town, Scunthorpe United, Coventry City, Plymouth Argyle and Swindon Town between 2010 and 2014, before departing for north of the border, joining Ross County in the Scottish Premiership in October 2014.

A two-year spell with the Staggies ended in July 2016 when Reckord opted to return to England, signing with League One side Oldham Athletic after 48 total appearances in Scotland’s top flight.

A single season with the Latics preceded Reckord returning to the Midlands to experience his first taste of National League football, signing for Solihull Moors in the summer of 2017. During his time at the Moors, Reckord was hugely influential in the ambitious Midlands outfit turning from a relegation threatened side to promotion contenders and he played a major part in their best ever league finish when the Moors finished in 2nd place behind Leyton Orient during the 2018/19 season, missing out on the title by just 3 points.

The Wood welcome Reckord following a season-and-a-half in North Wales with National League side big hitters Wrexham. However his time with the Red Dragons came to an end upon the mutual cancellation of his contract at the Racecourse, and he subsequently joins Luke Garrard’s defensive unit which boasts the best defensive record in English football’s professional ranks with 16 clean sheets already this campaign; conceding just 16 goals in all competitions.

Jamie is available for immediate selection and is included in Luke Garrard’s match day squad tomorrow as Wood face Weymouth at the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park in the Vanarama National League. Jamie will wear the number 2 shirt at Meadow Park.

Welcome to the Wood, Jamie!
