Boreham Wood FC can confirm after much speculation that left wingback Jacob Mendy Mendy has decided to join Hollywood-owned Vanarama National League counterparts Wrexham AFC for an undisclosed fee.

Jacob arrived at the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park last summer from fellow National League side Wealdstone, but after just a single season in a Wood shirt, Jacob has swapped South Hertfordshire for North Wales to join National League title favourites Wrexham.

Despite leaving Meadow Park after a single season, he goes with our thanks in what was a memorable 12 months for both the Club and Jacob. He was a key player in the Club’s magical FA Cup run last season that took the Wood all the way to Goodison Park in the fifth round, becoming just the tenth Non-League side in the competition’s history to make the last 16.

Jacob and his teammates will always go down in the Club history as our “Bournemouth Boys” who, against all the odds, beat then-table toppers AFC Bournemouth and eventual Championship runners-up in arguably the biggest cup upset of the 2022, to set up a fifth-round tie against Frank Lampard’s Everton at Goodison Park, the home of the people’s club.

During his time at Meadow Park, Jacob made 52 appearances for the Wood scoring two goals. Jacob, we wish you well and we hope you have many years of success with our friends from North Wales.
