Boreham Wood have been buoyed by the news that goalkeeper James Russell has won his appeal in regards to the Red card he received at St Neots. With the Appeal being successful, James will now take up his position between the sticks for the short trip to Northwood in the 3rd qualifying round of this year’s FA Cup this Saturday.

Another bonus is the return of Mauro Vilhete, the talismanic loan signing from Barnet, who after scoring twice in the clubs recent 3-0 victory against Sutton Utd, then picked up an injury on the training pitch and missed the next 5 games.

Mauro is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday’s important away cup tie and Manager Ian Allinson stated “he gives me great options up top or in the wide positions. He’s now fit and raring to go and at our level he’s a match winner and gives me a real team selection headache for our tough trip to Northwood.

Allinson went on to say “Our squad now has a depth to it, that we have lacked in previous seasons and the quality and hunger of this young squad to be successful just shines through. We are excited and focused to be at this stage of the FA Cup and to be 3rd in Conference South and will not under estimate Northwood. I’ve watched them twice, I know what to expect and if we’re not on our game we’ll get done, it’s that simple, He concluded.
