Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the arrival of Harrogate Town forward Danilo Orsi, joining the Wood on loan from the Yorkshire side for the remainder for the 2021/22 season.

The 25-year old arrives at the LV Bet Stadium Meadow Park with plenty of experience of scoring goals in the Non-League. Raised in the North London area, Orsi moved to the US between 2015 and 2018 on a soccer scholarship at Eastern Florida State College, where he scored 27 goals in 32 games across two seasons and broke their goalscoring record, as well as winning Conference Player of the Year and making an All-American XI. The striker would also feature for Chivas in California and Fort Lauderdale Strikers in Florida during his time stateside.

After returning to England, Danilo was offered a trial by Premier League side Watford. In 2018 Orsi joined East Thurrock United, then of the National League South. This spell was short-lived however, and he signed for divisional rivals Hungerford Town. Despite joining midway through the campaign 11 goals for the season thrust his name into the spotlight and he moved to yet another National League South side in Hampton & Richmond Borough ahead of the 2019/20 season.

After a prolific period with Hampton, the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent voiding of Non-League football from step two downwards was all that prevented the Beavers from qualifying for the end of season play-offs, but Orsi’s form attracted interest from the National League and he joined Maidenhead United in the 2020 off-season. Taking to the fifth tier like a duck to water, Orsi he bagged 19 league goals (21 in all competitions) in his debut campaign at Non-League’s top table, finishing as the league’s second highest scorer whilst also winning his club’s Player of the Season award.

Orsi’s rise to the Football League would be completed in the summer of 2021, as League Two side Harrogate Town gave him his first taste of league football when they announced his signing in June 2021 ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Orsi has netted six goals in 14 games in all competitions this season for Town, but joins the Wood bolstering Luke Garrard’s frontline options. Having played on the wing a handful of times in his career too, he offers versatility as well as an eye for goal.

Danilo is available for selection to be included Garrard’s match day squad tomorrow as Wood face Barnet in our eagerly anticipated New Year match up at the LV Bet Stadium Meadow Park. Danilo will wear the number 29 shirt at Meadow Park.

Welcome to the Wood, Danilo!
