BOREHAM WOOD versus TONBRIDGE ANGELS – MATCH PREVIEW

28 February 2013

Boreham Wood entertain Tonbridge Angels at Meadow Park on Saturday 2 March 2013, Kick Off: 3.00pm.

Whilst Wood are currently fifth in the Blue Square Bet South table with 47 points from 29 matches, Angels are in fifteenth place with 36 points from 30 matches.

Tonbridge Angels have recently signed former Charlton Athletic midfielder Ben Davisson, who recently left Ryman Football League Division One South promotion-chasers Maidstone United.    Davisson, twenty-one, joined the Stones towards the end of last Season from Hastings United, but has struggled to regain a place in a strong central midfield this Season after suffering a hairline fracture of the foot in November and was allowed to leave due to budgetary restraints.    He made a total of twenty five appearances for the Stones, scoring three goals.    Davisson started his Career with Charlton Athletic and had Loan spells with Angels’ League rivals Bromley and Welling United before being released by the Valiants and subsequently joining Hastings United.

Tonbridge Angels have won three, drawn one and lost four of their last eight away League games, bu they had a convincing 4 – 2 home victory against Boreham Wood earlier in this Season.    On that occasion former Dover Athletic forward George Purcell gave Angels an early 2 – 0 lead after six minutes.    Purcell has since left the Club.    Omer Riza (penalty) and David Hutton made the score 2 – 2, but Frannie Collin and Lee Browning secured the points in the closing stages of the game.

Saturday’s game promises to be another tough match for Wood who will be hoping to gain a victory in their pursuit of a Play-off position.
