STAT PACK: AFC FYLDE

23 November 2018

Ahead of the Wood’s trip to AFC Fylde this Saturday, November 24 (3pm), we take a look at the key stats for both teams.

Taking a look back at last season, the Wood faced a tough AFC Fylde side a total of three times and they remained unbeaten in all three games.

The opening game of the 2017/18 season resulted in a 2-2 draw between the two sides, with Ricky Shakes and Kane Smith scoring the goals for the Wood.

In the reverse fixture, Boreham Wood held on to a 1-0 lead for 84 minutes after an early goal from Angelo Balanta.

In what was one of the biggest games of the season, Boreham Wood were able to get past the Lancashire based side once again to ensure that they made it to the National League Play-off semi-finals against Sutton United.

Boreham Wood head into the fixture unbeaten in their last five league games, whilst AFC Fylde have lost their last two, which will be a confidence boost for the Wood.

On the road, the Wood have had mixed success in the ten games that they have played. Despite losing five of those matches, they have remained resilient to win two and draw in another three, showing their capabilities away from home.

AFC Fylde have had a strong home record throughout this season (played 10 and won seven) but suffered defeat against National League strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge in their last game, proving perhaps that there is an opportunity to claw back some of the seven points that they currently hold over the Wood in the table.

Something that manager Luke Garrard will be looking at heading into this fixture is how to break down the best defence in the league, as AFC Fylde have only conceded 12 goals this season. Top scorer Josh Umerah may prove to be a key player in achieving this, as well as Gozie Ugwu, who has cropped up with some important goals already this season.

AFC Fylde have conceded more goals at home this campaign than they have done away, which suggests a stronger chance for the Wood to get on the scoresheet.

This Saturday’s game could prove to be a very interesting one for both teams, who will be sure to cause each other a variety of problems, but hopefully ending with a positive result and the three points coming home with the Wood.
