REVAMPED SQUAD TAKING SHAPE

2 October 2015
LUCAS V FOREST GREEN

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that after the signing of striker Jamie Lucas on loan from Bristol Rovers on Wednesday, that we can also announce that the daytime training issues that club captain Sam Cox and striker Charlie Macdonald were having, have now been positively resolved.

On the downside the club must inform our supporters that as expected our left footed midfielder Graeme Montgomery, cannot due to work commitments, commit to our new daytime training programme.

As Monty has also chosen to go abroad for a week, departing today (Friday) to celebrate a family anniversary, it meant he missed both the Macclesfield and Kidderminster away games.. As such he has been allowed to join St Albans City on an initial 93 day loan..

Monty will be replaced in the Wood squad by ex Arsenal and Wycombe Wanderers wide man/striker Anthony Jeffrey.. Anthony is no stranger to our fans or Meadow Park, having spent a successful time here on loan from Arsenal some two seasons ago..

Back then he averaged better than a goal every two games and we’re delighted to welcome him back for what we hope will be an even more productive spell.. Anthony has had three training sessions with his new team mates this week, has looked sharp and is available for selection for Saturday’s tough trip away at Macclesfield…

Manager Ian Allinson said “It’s good news for the club to get the final daytime issues sorted out with Charlie, Sam and Monty, as these things can prolong themselves and become a distraction we can all do without”..

Allinson continued “Monty’s loan to St Albans will be for a 93 days loan period and was a blow initially. However by him not being able to train during the day which I understood and then choosing to go away at such a critical time in our season, it simply made a loan deal or transfer unavoidable..

“When I made him available there was no shortage of takers but a loan was a solution that perhaps suited all parties. I have no doubt Monty will do very well at St Albans and as long as we don’t pick up any unforeseen injuries, I will not revisit things with Monty again until January”..

Allinson concluded “As for the signing of Anthony Jeffrey I’m really excited by this.. I’ve had a good chat with him about the importance of showing me a good attitude, about applying himself and about what I expect. He understands what I require as he’s worked with me before and if he listens he will give me great options.. He has pace to burn but more than that he now has a point to prove, as his career in all truth has stalled in the last two seasons..
