Form Guide

The Wood bounced back from the late defeat to Leyton Orient in style, with a comeback victory over Halifax Town

Nathan Clarke had headed his side in front on 70-minutes, but Josh Umerah pulled The Wood level with a powerful strike just seven minutes later – his first for his new side.

The young forward then capped off the display with a calmly taken penalty in the final minute of added time.

The Wood will be looking to continue in a similar vein on Bank Holiday Monday and pull themselves further up the table.

Managed by Jay Saunders, Maidstone United finished in 19th place in the National League.

They currently sit in 16th place in the National League table, having suffered a late 3-2 defeat to Maidenhead United on Saturday, in the early kick off.

One to Watch – Shamir Mullings

The forward joined from League Two Forest Green in the summer and has scored twice so far this season for The Stones.

Standing at 6ft 5inch, Mullings is a towering presence in the box, but with good footwork to match.

Mullings played 23 matches for Forest Green during his stint with the club, having joined from Chelmsford, after netting 12 goals in just 18 appearances.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“We are very much taking a game by game attitude. We have got Maidstone now on Monday and we will be in on Sunday, for a warm down and to work on Maidstone, about what we need to do to get maximum points there.

“They play on a 4G, and they have obviously gone and registered a loss this weekend at Maidenhead, where they went 1-0 down and then 2-1 up, but lost 3-2.

“So, they will be licking their wounds and wanting to get maximum points come Monday afternoon.

“We know how tough it is going to be, I said it last year and I will say it again this year, every game at this level is tough, there is not an easy tie.

“We will regroup on Sunday, we will work on Maidstone and I will spend my Saturday evening watching them and going through where I feel we can hurt them and how I feel they can hurt us.

“We will look forward to going down there on Monday and hopefully trying to get maximum points.”
