Two goals in each half were enough to give Boreham Wood an emphatic 4–0 win against Wealdstone in West London. The win was not only Wealdstone’s first home defeat since August, but it also propelled Luke Garrard’s men to the dizzy heights of second place in the Enterprise National League table.

Luke Garrard named an unchanged line-up from last Sunday’s win against Carlisle United.

Wood came out of the blocks quickly and were in front in two minutes when a ball over the top from Chris Bush found Abdul Abdulmalik, who clipped the ball over Stones’ keeper Dante Baptiste to give Wood the lead. Boreham Wood continued to control early possession, but their flow was interrupted for a while following a worrying-looking injury to talisman Erico Sousa on ten minutes, when he was replaced by Lewis Richardson. Two minutes after the substitution, Nathan Tshikuna tested Ted Curd with a well-struck half-volley, but the Wood keeper was equal to it.

Wood doubled their lead on 26 minutes when Matt Rush found himself with acres of space in the penalty area before a tidy finish, with the Stones defence ball-watching. Four minutes later, Jeff King’s free-kick was saved by Baptiste before Charlie O’Connell tapped in the rebound. However, the linesman flagged for offside. On 32 minutes, Baptiste did well to deny Richardson, and seven minutes later he pulled off an even better save to deny King. On 41 minutes, Wealdstone skipper Enzio Boldewijn was just off target with a well-struck shot.

Wealdstone 0–2 Boreham Wood

Just after the restart, Tshikuna stung the paws of Ted Curd with a good effort. Soon afterwards, Micah Obiero was just off target with another shot. On 52 minutes, Wood extended their lead when Abdulmalik went on an excellent run before squaring the ball to Richardson, who finished well past Baptiste to put Wood three goals up. Five minutes later, King picked out Zak Brunt, who fired towards goal only to be denied by an outstanding save from Baptiste.

Boreham Wood completed their scoring on 81 minutes, when Richardson was quickest to react to a goalmouth scramble with an excellent finish into the roof of the net. As the clock ticked down, the Stones had two more chances through Obiero and Sak Hassan, but both were off target.

Wealdstone 0–4 Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood have played better and lost this season, but were clinical against a normally well-organised Wealdstone team. Richardson was excellent and, if Sousa does have a period on the sidelines, who better to take his place? The score was slightly flattering for Boreham Wood, and Ted Curd had his best game for the club in goal, producing saves at crucial times. It was a fantastic turnout of 358 Boreham Wood fans, who played a role in helping the team secure the three points. With Solihull Moors to come to Meadow Park next Tuesday night, Wood will want to end a fantastic 2025 in fine style.
