Boreham Wood recorded their fourth league win in a row with an emphatic 4-1 victory against a well-organised Enfield Town side. Goals from Callum Reynolds, two from Matt Rush, and one from Charlie O’Connell were enough to give Luke Garrard’s men all three points.

Luke Garrard made two changes to his starting line-up from Friday’s win at Slough Town. Femi Ilesamni replaced Jayden Richardson at left wing-back, and Tyrone Marsh came in for the injured Erico Sousa further forward.

Boreham Wood were the brighter team in the opening exchanges, although without the dynamic start they showed against Slough Town. Femi Ilesamni had a goal-bound shot deflected for a corner on 15 minutes. From the resulting set-piece, Tyrone Marsh was off target with his header. Three minutes later, Cameron Coxe’s mishit shot cannoned off Matt Rush into the arms of Town keeper Joe Wright. On 24 minutes, Charles Clayden’s effort was well saved by Wright. Wood continued to control possession but were denied any further chances in the first half by a well-organised Town defence who sat deep.

Rush went close at the start of the second half when a ball over the top found him in behind the defence. He chipped the keeper, but the ball sailed over the crossbar. Femi Ilesamni was off target two minutes later. Wood finally took the lead on 55 minutes when a Clayden cross was turned home by Callum Reynolds for his first goal since returning to the club.

Wood added a second on 67 minutes from the penalty spot. Josef Yarney was fouled in the area and, with Erico Sousa sidelined, responsibility fell to Rush, who made no mistake from 12 yards. Five minutes later, the visitors were awarded a penalty of their own, and Sam Youngs sent Nathan Ashmore the wrong way to halve Boreham Wood’s lead.

On 79 minutes, Wood restored their two-goal advantage when Matt Rush grabbed his second of the match with a straightforward finish at the far post following a cross from Coxe. On 90 minutes, Rush had a good chance to complete his hat-trick, but Town keeper Wright pulled off an outstanding save to deny him. A minute later, Charlie O’Connell added a fourth and completed the scoring with a well-struck shot from just outside the penalty area.
