Boreham Wood FC can confirm that our scheduled pre-season friendly against a Chelsea XI, due to take place on Tuesday 4 August, has been cancelled.
The fixture has been called off after a significant number of Chelsea’s under 21 players were selected to join the senior squad for the club’s pre-season tour of Australia, leaving the visitors unable to fulfil the fixture.
The club explored every possible avenue to source a replacement opponent for the scheduled date but, unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to secure a suitable fixture at such short notice.
We apologise to supporters for any disappointment and thank you for your understanding.
Season ticket holders are reminded that they will still receive free admission to our final home pre-season friendly against a Norwich City XI this Friday, with kick-off at 19:00.
Please note that the Norwich City XI fixture this Friday will be our final pre-season friendly, as such any season tickets purchased before the game gain entry into this game free of charge.
Supporters who have already purchased tickets for the Chelsea XI fixture are asked to contact the ticket office by emailing ticketoffice@borehamwoodfootballclub.co.uk with ‘Chelsea refund’ in the subject line to arrange a refund.
