It was another game of two halves, with Boreham Wood again coming from behind at half-time to win in a very tricky game against a well-organised Worthing side. Razzaq De Graft gave the hosts the lead in the first half before three second-half goals from Matt Rush and Danny Cashman (2). De Graft scored a late penalty to leave Boreham Wood on tenterhooks for the final few minutes.

Luke Garrard made two changes to his starting line-up from Thursday’s fantastic late win against Boston United, with Danny Cashman being rewarded for his excellent second-half performance with a place in the starting line-up. Farhaan Ali Wahid dropped to the bench. Tarryn Allarakhia, who also had a big impact when he came on halfway through the second half, replaced Lewis Richardson in the starting line-up.

It was a very bitty opening to the game, with both sides enjoying a lot of possession but offering little in the final third. The first chance of the game fell to the Rebels’ Ricky Aguiar, whose well-struck effort from outside the area was saved by Luca Gunter on 18 minutes.

Four minutes later, the hosts took the lead when Razzaq Coleman De Graft finished well from close range. Soon afterwards, Remiero Moulton tried an acrobatic overhead kick but couldn’t quite get hold of it.

On 26 minutes, Moulton’s cross to the far post was somehow tipped away by Gunter in the Wood goal when it looked like it was creeping in. A minute later, Aguiar forced Gunter into another good save from a free-kick from outside the area.

Wood had their first effort on goal on 33 minutes when Regan Booty fired just wide from outside the penalty area. Almost immediately, De Graft had a good chance to double the Rebels’ lead but opted to square the ball to Aguiar when the best option was to shoot.

While the second half was ultimately better for Boreham Wood, it took them a while to get going, as the hosts still had the better of things in the early stages of the half.

Boreham Wood changed all that by equalising on 61 minutes. It was that man Matt Rush again who broke the deadlock for Boreham Wood with his ninth league goal of the season, following some excellent approach play from Zak Brunt. Rush nearly added to his tally a few minutes later, but Rebels goalkeeper Taylor Seymour did well to deny him.

On 79 minutes, Regan Booty found Rush at the far post, but he was unable to get his header on target. On 81 minutes, Rush turned provider for Danny Cashman, who scored his first Boreham Wood goal against his former club to give Wood the lead.

Four minutes later, an excellent run and cross from Oli Bainbridge created a chance for Brunt, but he fired wide. A minute later, Cashman made sure of the points with a lovely turn and finish for his second goal and Boreham Wood’s third.

Wood were made to sweat a little at the end when De Graft converted from the penalty spot to pull one back. It was another valuable three points for Boreham Wood, securing their fourth league win in a row. Boreham Wood now sit top of the table going into their crucial clash against Carlisle United next Saturday.
