MATCH PREVIEW – WATFORD (H)

9 July 2024

Boreham Wood’s pre-season kicks off tomorrow evening at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park, with Championship side Watford bringing a first team squad down to test Ross Jenkins’ men.

The last meeting between the two sides came during last year’s pre-season, with the match ending a goalless draw, with neither side being able to find the cutting edge.

Tomorrow presents Jenkins with a chance to pit his side against strong opposition and begin preparations for the start of the season.

Watford, managed by club legend and Premier League winner Tom Cleverley, will prove tough opposition, with Cleverley taking the reigns back in March and subsequently leading his side to the safety of a 15th placed finish.

ONES TO WATCH

Mileta Rajovic:

Top scorer for the Hornets last season, the 24-year-old Danish forward netted 11 goals despite only starting 17 of his 43 appearances. Having started his career in his native Denmark, Rajovic has played for a number of clubs before signing with Watford last summer, including B.93, Næstved Boldklub and Kalmar FF, where he fired them to promotion and won player of the season in the process. A physical presence at 6”4, Rajovic will look to stretch the Wood’s back line and will have to be closely marshalled come tomorrow’s tie.
