Boreham Wood v Chesterfield
Saturday 7 October 2023, 3.00pm
Mangata Pay UK Stadium, Vanarama National League
The Wood picked up their first win in 5 after beating Hartlepool Utd 1-0 at home on Wednesday, the win means we now sit on 15 points from our opening 14 games and in 17th position.
Saturday, we face possibly our biggest test yet, as we welcome the league leaders, Chesterfield to town. Chesterfield finished 3rd last season in the National League and made the play-off final against Notts County, they took County all the way to penalties at Wembley but unfortunately just missed out on promotion back to the EFL.
This season, they have started on fire sitting top of the table, having won 11 of their first 14 games.
Chesterfield – W-W-W-D-W
The Spireites are unbeaten in their last five, having won four and drawn one. On Tuesday they welcomed Bromley and after a goalless first half, second half goals from Quigley and Naylor ensured a 2-0 victory.
They were held to a 1-1 draw away to Maidenhead Utd last Saturday, after trailing at the break they managed to find a second half equaliser through Jacobs.
This was on the back of three previous wins against Rochdale, Wealdstone and FC Halifax Town.
In their last five games, they have scored 11 goals and conceded 6.
