Wood Look To Soar With Concord In Town.

Boreham Wood v Concord Rangers Match Preview,

by John Mead.

Wood are hoping for a positive result this Saturday when Concord Rangers visit Meadow Park. The Beachboys have proved stern opposition in their recent battles with Wood and are certainly a team that could beat anybody in the League on their day.

A quick look at some of Rangers’ recent results cements that theory. Beating Whitehawk 3-0 at home, whilst returning from both Bromley and Havant and Waterlooville with maximum points, shows that Rangers are a major force to be reckoned with.

One needs to look no further than their 4-0 demolition job on us earlier in the season in the F A Trophy. Danny Cowley’s men raced into a first half lead that they comfortably held onto. Several Wood players were rested on that occasion, but that takes nothing away from the nature of their victory.

It was just revenge for our win by a similar score line last season at The Aspect Arena, with our visit to Canvey Island in the League earlier this season ending in a 1-1 draw.

Wood Manager Ian Allinson is well aware of the task his side face. “We know what to expect on Saturday, it will be a tough challenge. We need to ensure our little bit of inconsistency is laid to rest. We will build upon our win at Farnborough when we showed that we have a fine squad of players capable of battling for the remaining thirty three points available to us this season. It is cliché, but we are in a strong position and every game now until the end of the season is our Cup Final.”

At the time of writing The Beachboys are in eleventh spot, but with games in hand they are more than capable of mounting a run towards a play off place.

Wood fans are encouraged to turn out in numbers for what is a huge game that the outcome of which will shape our season.

Come On You Wood!
