Boreham Wood Football club played out a 1-1 draw at Havant, in their final game of what has proved to be a very long hard season.

Immediately after the game the club Chairman, Management, Players and supporters, all hastily travelled back to the Holiday Inn, Sterling way, to join a waiting 200 strong guest list, that included the towns local Dignitaries, our Club President, our Sponsors, our legendary ex-Players and both the Town and Borough Mayors.

They had gathered to celebrate a very special moment in the clubs history, namely its 65th Anniversary Gala dinner and to enjoy the present 1st teams Presentation evening.

Hosted impeccably by the Club Chairman of fourteen years Danny Hunter. It was a perfect evening where the balance of old, was met with the vision of the new and it was expertly pulled off by our host. In fact the room, which was wonderfully decorated in the clubs colours of white and black, extolled a warmth and affection from its guests that the club is clearly held in.

That affection encompassed 7 decades from 1948 to 2013 and the Clubs President Bill O’Neill was then called upon to take those in attendance on a very special and nostalgic trip down memory lane, which he did wonderfully well in his own inimitable way.

So the Club would like to sincerely thank each and everyone of you who attended and salute our incredibly hard working staff, who have helped make our 65th anniversary dinner such a wonderful occasion. This very special evening we had planned, turned into a night that we can all look back on fondly in the years to come.

The club will now produce a commemorative DVD that fully captures the whole evening, the wonderful speeches and the well-earned awards.

THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN…
