PASE BANNER
Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce record numbers once again, for its first PASE trial (Programme for Academic and Sporting Excellence) aimed at young 16-18 year old players for next season.

Over 300 young footballers of all abilities, attended the club. They were given an introductory talk by the Chairman about expectations and the Sports/Education programme. This was followed by a facility and stadium tour led by the PASE manager Billy Hunter, before the Academy Director Luke Garrard and his coaches put the boys through their paces on the football pitch.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter commented “it really is great to see so many talented young players looking to improve themselves through sport and education. I can well remember when nobody believed in the scheme and having to start it some 13 years ago, with just 16 lads and limited facilities”..

“Next year promises to be an exciting one for everyone of us at the club and without the local councils support over the years which has been immeasurable, we would not be in this position.. The trial day though huge, was run incredibly well and I have to thank all my coaching staff, managers and of course the teachers from Barnet and Southgate College, for all putting on such a seamless and successful trial. It showed how talented they are and showcased what we and the college do perfectly”.

LUKE GARRARDAcademy Director Luke Garrard said “This was our biggest trial to date and I’m so pleased that my coaches and our teachers were very much on point. The standard of player was good and with the Chairmans vision of inclusion for all, obviously attitude, discipline and desire then becomes a vital ingredient in what we expect and that’s very important to me”.

“I can already see that we will be very strong at elite level and we will I think also be strong at all levels judging by this trial.. We’re very lucky that our scheme has the Chairmans investment put into it year on year. We have already built a solid structure in place and I’m told even more investment is in the pipeline next year. So it promises to be our best yet for my coaches and our scholars, so I’m thrilled with that”. Garrard concluded.
