Boreham Wood Progressed Through to the Second Round of the FCYL Cup with an Impressive 3-1 win away to AFC Wimbledon

With the Home side unbeaten all season it was always going to be a hard task for the visitors, early exchanges between the two sides showed the intent from both to win the fixture.

The Deadlock was broken five minutes from the break when Maxwell Holland was judged to have been fouled in the box for Raheem Sterling – Parker to place the resulting penalty into the top right hand corner.

Wood soon doubled the lead 10  minutes into the second half when a clever exchange of passes between Sterling – Parker & Hastings with the latter bending his effort around the advancing goalie.

Wimbledon did pull one back with great wide play and delivery finished with real quality.

Substitute Salim Sahnoun sealed the victory when he broke the offside trap to find himself one on one and found the bottom corner with a drilled effort.

Manager Luke Garrard was pleased with the result “ I always thought that the game was going to be tough as they have been unbeaten for the season, the boys showed a great maturity and professionalism and played with a real tempo and purpose, we now travel away to West Ham in the next Round and look to progress further in this competition”
