Boreham Wood Football Club’s Under 18’s have had a very successful fortnight in both league and cup competitions.

A trio of games against Colney Heath and Grays Athletic (twice – home and away in the Brian Hitching’s Cup) saw ‘Wood’ put another 3 points on the board in the league, as well as advance comprehensively in the cup.

Firstly ‘Wood’ dominated a two-legged affair against Essex side Grays Athletic with a 5 – 1 win away from home, followed by a 1 – 1 draw in the return leg at Meadow Park. Goals from Robert Hastings (3), Raheem Stirling-Parker, Salim Sahnoun and Jamie Lumsden saw ‘Wood’ Under 18’s advance to the next round of the Brian Hitching’s Cup 6-2 on aggregate.

‘Wood’s’ youngsters then hosted Colney Heath in a top of the table encounter. With Boreham Wood welcoming a Colney Heath side sitting on top of the league, who have accumulated 13 points from 7 games, an exciting game was in store at Meadow Park. However a ‘Wood’ side who previously boasted a 100% record in the league thus far, with 3 wins from 3 games, were determined to close the gap on the league leaders. ‘Wood’s’ youngsters dominated large proportions of the game and rolled over Colney Heath with a resounding 3 – 0 victory with goals from Jack Vasey, Salim Sahnoun and youth-team top goal scorer Robert Hastings to maintain their 100% league record.

Manager Luke Garrard Said “It’s been a full on schedule for the boys, we are now playing catch up with fixtures that fell victim to the weather conditions in January. It’s very encouraging to see such positive performances and have now put ourselves in a position of strength as we enter the business end of the season”

The spotlight now turns onto ‘Wood’s’ Under 19 side who has advanced to two National Cup quarter finals with games against either Chelmsford City or Worthing in the ECFA National Cup and Maidstone United in the Football Conference National Cup.

Well done and good luck to all involved.
