Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that a top Championship first team squad in the form of Queen’s Park Rangers will visit Meadow Park for a high-profile pre-season friendly in mid-July.

QPR appointed the former Brentford, Glasgow Rangers and Nottingham Forrest boss and also the former Boreham Wood player Mark Warburton as their new Head Coach last week and his new side will take on The Wood at Meadow Park on Tuesday July 16 kicking off at 7:30pm, a date for your diaries.

This is The Wood’s first confirmed pre-season encounter of the 2019/20 campaign and will no doubt give Luke Garrard’s men an extremely stern test against some of the brightest young players in the English second tier – definitely one not to be missed.

The Super Hoops finished last year in 19th place in the Championship, but now under new leadership and with fresh ideas, the current squad will be looking to catch the eye of their new boss before another competitive EFL season gets underway.

The new signings, the new QPR management team and the likes of Luke Freeman, Eberechi Eze and Darnell Furlong, who regularly impressed last year, will all be on view on the evening of July 16.

It has been several years since the two club’s last met and everyone at BWFC is very excited to welcome both Mark Warburton and QPR back to Meadow Park in a mid-July fixture with Luke Garrard’s new squad looking to make a good impression.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “Mark has been a great football friend to me and he’s a great family friend for more years than I care to remember. He is a fantastic coach, a great people person and he’s brought success to Watford’s academy, to Brentford’s first team and to a giant like Glasgow Rangers so to have Mark bring me a top QPR squad to Meadow Park is a real honour and it just shows once again that old school relationships in football still matter”.

Ticket prices for the fixture are as follows:

Adult/OAP – £15.00

U18 – £10.00

U12 – £5.00

U5 – FREE
