Boreham Wood fell to a 3-0 defeat away to Slough Town, in their fifth friendly of pre-season.

The damage was done inside the first 45-minutes, as Slough netted a trio of first half goals to take an impressive lead into half time.

Sorba Thomas slotted in at right-wing back following a strong display against Barnstaple, while Jamal Fyfield joined the back three and Ricky Shakes sat behind Bradley Ash and Shaun Jeffers.

The hosts were in front inside the first 15 minutes, when a stunning cross-field ball from James Dobson was met by the diving head of Ben Harris.

Luke Garrard’s side were then denied an instant reply when a goal by Tom Champion was pulled back for a foul. The defender had thumped past Ryan Turner, following David Stephens’ knock down.

Thomas done well to keep the ball in play down the right-channel and he dipped it into the box, but it was knocked over the head of Shaun Jeffers.

A sliding challenge from Keiran Murtagh won the ball on the edge of the Slough box and teed up nicely for Jeffers, but his driven effort was blocked.

The Rebels then doubled their lead through another impressive Dobson delivery. The midfielder whipped the ball in from a free-kick and it was met by a powerful Sam Togwell header.

Simon Dunn darted across the middle of the park and slid an effort to the right of the Wood’s trialist goalkeeper, but he saved with ease.

Searching for some attacking spark, Shakes, Murtagh and Femi Ilesanmi all threw crosses into the area, but no one was on the end of them.

Slough then added a third on the brink of half time, when a defensive mix-up saw Chris Flood nick the ball from Murtagh and knock it to Dobson, who dinked it over the goalkeeper.

The Wood returned for the second half hoping for a better display and Champion met Murtagh’s cross into the area, but could only nod it into the hands of Slough ‘keeper Turner.

The visitor’s best chance of the match was created by Jeffers, who feigned to his left and dropped his shoulder to his right, but his driven strike was well saved by Turner.

Slough substitute Perry Coles would test a second Boreham Wood trialist ‘keeper, but he was able to hold onto the ball comfortably.

Champion then had to make a sliding interception when the lively Coles sent a low cross in towards the area.

Warren Harris would create space for himself on the edge of the area, but he scooped his shot into the hands of the goalkeeper.

A superb one-two between Thomas and Murtagh released the former in on goal, but Alex Morgan was unable to turn the eventual low cross in.
