Boreham Wood (Oaklands) Run riot in the ECFA College league with an impressive 8 -1 victory against Worthing.

3 goals in the first 10 minutes set the tone for the game with the opener from Dean Rubinia with a cute dink to start to goal rush, the second soon followed with the first of his three Charlie Saywood made a solo run down the left for him to drill hard and low in to the far corner.  Darren Sarpong than increased the lead with a well worked set piece as he lost his man to head home from close range.  The fourth had to wait till 10minutes from the half, winger Sean Bush Ferris scored a dubious goal which appeared to cross the line from a well directed half volley off the bar, Dean Rubinia doubled his tally with again a fine solo effort where he skipped past defenders with ease for him to put the advancing goalie on the floor for him to round him and coolly pass home to give Wood a 5-0 lead at the break.

After the break Worthing gained a consolation goal from a corner where Wood was caught cold and didn’t pick up the run for the Worthing Centre half to volley home from 6yards.  Wood soon picked up from where they left off with Charlie Saywood who played a one two with front man Kevin Adewenmi for him to breach the back line for Charlie to loop his effort over the advancing goalkeeper.  Kevin Adewenmi opened his account for the college side with a finish of real grit and determination where he first collided in to the Worthing goal keeper and then held off two challenges to bundle the ball over the line.  The Eight and final goal came from first year Charlie Saywood to complete his hat trick with a right foot volley giving the goal keeper no chance.

Wood now sits in second place in the VTCT Reserve team League 2.  With next weeks game against third in the league it should provide a close encounter.
