Boreham Wood Football Club are truly saddened to have learnt of the passing of one of our ex managers in Steve Browne.
Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “Steve had not been well for quite some time and in truth has been incredibly strong and brave throughout his illness.”
“In his time with us he not only created an attacking, entertaining side, but he took our club on an amazing FA Cup journey. Along the way, his boys knocked out two clubs who were back then Conference giants in both Hayes and Kettering Town.”
“You must remember we were back then just a struggling Ryman North club and he and his number two Troy Townsend masterminded that Cup that run quite beautifully. Our run did finally end in defeat up at Blackpool’s famous Bloomfield Road, but it is a wonderful club memory and a wonderful tribute to the man, who’s team not only got us there but adored him to a man.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are for Steve, his family and his friends at this very sad time”.
