Boreham Wood FC boasted 11 players involved in the last 16 fixture against Kent in the county cup, With 9 players starting the fixture and an impressive 10 finishing the fixture this was a massive accolade for both player and Club.
The boys which involved 2 players Lee Close and David Sesay that are to play for their places in the last 18man squad in the English Schools Representative side, also last years Under 18s Independant Schools Captain Charlie hunter along with many first year players of whom are impressive immensely on both Club and County Schools level.
“As a Club it is a massive achievement for any boys to be called up to represent the Hertfordshire schools side but for 11 to be called up is a huge deal, we took great pleasure in telling the boys and they enjoyed it immensely”, Manger Luke Garrard also went on to say “I spoke with Anthony the Hertfordshire Schools Manager early in the week and he asked if I was able to assist him on the day, I was more than happy to and with the majority of the squad from Boreham Wood it was an easy task. Kent was feared as a tough opponent but Herts schools dispatched them with ease, for us to have 9 players at the start of the game and to finish with 10 was pleasing for everyone at the club. This shows the strength of the youth structure at the club and this will only improve”.
Hertfordshire Schools now face Surrey Schools in the Quarter Finals of the cup competition, with a Semi Final of this national cup competition at stake.
We look forward to seeing the announcement of the Squad and wish all the boys involved the very best.
