Boreham Wood U18’s rarely had to get out of second gear as they comfortably beat Newport Pagnell Town 5-2 in their Corinthian League fixture
Thursday night. Two goals up at half time, both from inform Ruddock Yala, Wood were hardly troubled at the back where Cameron Baker-Owers returned in goal and U16 Sam Doolan impressed at centre back.
A poor re-start saw Wood concede soon after the break but quickly took control again when some good football ended with a rebound falling at Scott-Morris’ feet to slide home.
Pagnell did pull another goal back from a very dubious penalty but Wood went on to score two more. Once from the penalty spot when Charlie Hunter put away his tenth goal for the season, and a definite own goal after a cross come shot by Lee Close.
Considering this Wood team hadn’t played together since a midweek cup game away to Waltham Abbey back in October, it was a very sound performance and well worthy of the win.
