LEWIS TOOMEY SIGNS

Boreham Wood Football Club are absolutely delighted to announce the re-signing of 23-year-old Lewis Toomey from our friends and close neighbours Hemel Hempstead Town.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said ” firstly can I thank Hemel for the very professional and no nonsense way they have acted throughout this transfer. We have paid a nominal fee to secure the services of Lewis who has been very impressive for Hemel since leaving us for them in the summer of 2013. We have watched his progress with interest and it’s fair to say he was instrumental in Hemel’s promotion winning side last season scoring 31 goals. He is a goal scorer, he has pace, he’s still learning and he’s still improving. Our Gaffer Ian Allinson asked me to move on it, as he has always liked him, so it’s nice to give the manager what he wants and nice to have Lewis back”..

Ian Allinson1Gaffer Ian Allinson added “ everyone knows I like players who work hard, players who are team players and players who have pace. I also need a squad that can adapt to the pressures of leading this league and though it’s been great fun being top, we are now entering unchartered waters, with many predicting we will fade away. That can of course happen but it’s not something we’re planning for. Lewis Toomey fits the DNA of my squad, he is young, hungry and can play up top in a two or down the sides, he knows the club, he knows both me, Luke and many of the players. He’ll know what we’ll expect and the intensity that we train at. In truth he knows, I never wanted him to leave in 2013 but he did and he did very well while at Hemel. I believe he comes back a more mature person and better player, he’s experienced being a champion last season, so he’ll be a wiser individual and know his strengths and weaknesses”..

Everyone at Boreham Wood from the supporters, it’s staff and the boardroom, welcome Lewis back to the Club, and hope his stay with us is both long and successful..
