We are back on the road to Wembley via the F.A. Carlsberg Trophy this weekend with a trip to the village of Impington, home to Histon Football Club.    Situated just north of Cambridge, The Stutes ply their trade of late in our sister League the Blue Square Bet North, where they currently sit third from bottom with just three wins from fifteen League outings.

The Club’s recent history makes for some impressive reading, considering they were playing in Division One of the Eastern Counties Football League just sixteen years ago.    Since then they gained promotion from the Southern Football League Division One East in 2004, going on to be crowned Champions of the Southern Football League Premier Division the very next Season.

Their first spell at their current level was in fact in the Conference South but they did not stay long.    In their second Season they romped to the League title by nineteen clear points, the year that the current team to catch Salisbury City also joined  the Conference Premier elite. Again their adaptability was impressive.    In their second Season they finished third and lost a two legged Play- off with Torquay United who went on to gain promotion back into the Football League.

Recent Seasons have not been so kind to Histon, finishing bottom of the Conference Premier two Seasons ago. However, last Season they were blessed with the skills of Omer Riza, which surely more than made up for the heartbreak of relegation!    Omer played twenty games for The Stutes scoring on four occasions, before joining us on 25 February last Season.

With prize money at stake and Ian Allinson declaring the Club’s interest in doing well in the F.A. Carlsberg Trophy this Season, makes this a must win game for The Wood!

Saturday 10 November 2012, Kick off 3.00pm.    Glassworld Stadium, Bridge Road, Impington, Cambridgeshire. CB24 9PH.
