Following an emphatic 8-0 victory over Newport Pagnell Town on Monday night, Boreham Wood’s talented group of Under 18’s are now within a point of clinching their seventh consecutive Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League title.

Goals from Steve O’Connor (5), Larry Balogun, Dean Rubenia and Robert Hastings saw Wood’s youngsters romp a Newport Pagnell side who sit in third place in their league. Wood’s next opportunity to gain the elusive point which will take them over the finishing line is against Hemel Hempstead Town this Thursday at home, kick off 7.30pm.

The Academy further impressed last week when they travelled to Hampshire to take on Reading at their Hogwood training ground to play against Reading’s Under 17 and Under 19 sides. Although Wood were on the negative end of the result on both occasions, they left Reading’s training ground with their heads held high after two solid performances.

Head PASE coach Luke Garrard said “The boys have been fantastic this year and have showed the correct Attitude, Discipline and Desire; however there is still a lot to be done. The Under 18 title is still to be won, we are once again in ECFA National Cup final, we still have the Under 18 Champion of Champions Cup to win, as well as Reserve League to compete in. So it’s important to stay grounded as we really are now in the business end of the season.”
