This Saturday Wood look to get back to winning ways to cement their place in the Play-off pack with a home game against Truro City.

The White Tigers have ridden the surf and survived several wind-up scares this Season already and it is to their credit that they are providing a stern test for their opposition each week given their circumstances. Already crippled by a ten point deduction, without which they would be off the foot of the table, our visitors play with a fervency that is borne by their circumstances. Currently, also suffering a transfer embargo, does not help their cause and Wood will be keen to take maximum points given that Ian Allinson has a full Squad to choose from save Luke Garrard who is recovering from a nasty ankle injury.

According to Ian, Luke is “Three or four weeks away from making an impact on the pitch, in addition to his commendable input as my Assistant.” The sight of a be-crutched Garrard enthusiastically rallying his troops from the sidelines is one that will stick in the mind for all Wood fans during our excellent run of form in the League this year to date.

City do not travel well and have won just once in the League on the road so far this Season, that being for them, a local derby, at Weston-super-Mare.

Nothing short of a victory for Wood this weekend is required to keep a hold on the promotion chasers. We currently sit fifth, but with Dover Athletic putting together a superb run of three straight victories since we beat them at their place three weeks ago and Welling United now hot on the tails of League leaders Salisbury City, Wood will need to be at their best to keep the dream of a stab at promotion alive.

So get down to Meadow Park and cheer on the lads!

Saturday 8 December, Wood versus Truro City, Kick Off 3.00pm.
