MATCH PREVIEW

by John Mead

A no holds barred cash injection has benefitted this Saturday’s visitors Eastleigh Football Club.    That is if you listen to the bookies who have already made them title favourites after the close Season activity on the transfer market.

The Spitfires Boss Ian Baird agrees with the bookies, stating, “We have bought in players to get us out of this Division.”

Eastleigh do have an eye for talent.    Last Season they signed our Daryl McMahon, returning soon after the final whistle went back in April to sign our quality right back Osei Sankofa.    Wood fans can vouch for the pedigree of the pair, but there is more, much more to come.

Mark Hughes, a Northern Ireland International who played 140 times just down the road at Underhill makes a surprise drop of two Divisions, given that he did so much to prevent that happening to his previous employers. Club Captain with the Bees, he is surely the coup of the Division?    Maybe not, as Craig McAllister has also put pen to paper and like the majority of the signings not just for one Season.    McAllister was prolific at Basingstoke Town, Wood fans may remember before successfully getting Crawley Town into the League, then Luton Town into the Play-off Finals.    A real winner for sure and something that any Manager would want to see on a CV if your sole intention is promotion.

The story continues, with last Season’s League Champions Woking supplying both Moses Ademola and Dale Binns to further bolster the behemoth Spitfires Squad.

Wood are quietly confident that we have a Squad capable of competing against any side in the Division should we stay injury free, which of course never happens!

Luckily we kick off this Saturday just that and should any Wood fan need reminding of last Season’s encounter against The Spitfires…. we won 6 – 1!

Good luck to the lads, it should be a very entertaining afternoon.

Boreham Wood    v    Eastleigh, Saturday 18 August 2012, Kick off: 3pm.
