Today our efforts were not quite good enough to overcome and beat a better team on the day in Harrogate Town.

After getting into the play offs and overwhelming FC Halifax Town in a come from behind 2-1victory last Friday, we travelled North today with not just hope but expectation, and as a Club we’re sorry we couldn’t finish the job off for you, the Wood Army!

Chairman Danny Hunter perhaps summed up the Club’s feelings best when he said, “We are so sorry we couldn’t quite see it through. In the past we’ve felt the joy of winning, and I feel been gracious winners, but today we have to accept we fell slightly short and we need to be gracious losers. As such, we wish our hosts Harrogate Town huge good luck next week at Wembley, as they were worthy winners…

“We have for nearly 12 months, given it our all, as we’ve quietly improved our Club and our Academy structure both on and off the field, and our core support has risen dramatically since Christmas.

“Our team bus tonight is obviously subdued and the hurt in everyone’s eyes is palpable, but pain does shape you and we must use this pain to try to shape next season.

“It’s not easy being an underdog Club in this division, especially when trying to achieve both our supporters and our own future ambitions and aspirations, but we’ll go again next season I’m sure, with Luke at the helm and with your continued support…

“So, on behalf of myself, my family, Luke Garrard, the staff and of course all the players, we want to say a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your messages of support, your kindness and your energy today and throughout the season. We can now look forward to seeing you all again next season, so thank you again one and all”.

OUR CLUB. OUR TOWN. OUR COMMUNITY.
