Donovan_SimmondsBoreham Wood FC are delighted to announce that Donovan Simmonds has become Ian Allinson’s 3rd signing of the summer.

Simmonds began his youth career with Charlton Athletic, before making the move to Coventry City, who were then managed by Iain Dowie after the two had worked together briefly at Charlton. Whilst at Coventry Simmonds had two loan spells with Gillingham and in Scotland with SPL club Kilmarnock, before returning to Coventry and being released in 2009.

He then had a short spell with Maltese club Floriana, before returning to Scotland to sign for Greenock Mortan in the Scottish First Division. In 2010 Simmonds had a brief spell with then Conference North outfit Nuneaton Town before signing for Dover Ahtletic in November 2010. Last year Simmonds had a successful season at Chelmsford City, importantly scoring twice against Colchester United in a 3-1 shock FA Cup victory and was in the Chelmsford side that lost in the Play offs to eventual winners Salisbury City.

On Simmonds arrival Ian Allinson had to say” We have admired Donovan for a while and we believe we can get the best out of the player and he can improve us. He works hard but he can work harder, he can play as a central striker but can also play in a three and importantly we know he can play and succeed at this level. Donovan lives relatively local to us, he will fit in with our dressing room and as such welcome him to Boreham Wood and hope that his stay with us will be a long and successful one”

Boreham Wood TV will be catching up with our new frontman in the coming days.
