Boreham Wood Football Club are absolutely delighted to inform our supporters, that Ricky Shakes our hugely influential midfield player, has signed a one year extension to his current contract.
Ricky who arrived initially from Ebbsfleet in the summer of 2013, was unfortunately injured in his very first training session with us. That injury was a career threatening snapped Achilles nightmare and sidelined him for over ten months. In fact it was only at the back end of last season that we finally saw the “Shakesinator” in a Wood shirt for the first time.
This season though after a very good pre season, Ricky has simply been a revelation in a more central midfield role and has been instrumental in our table topping season to date.
Manager Ian Allinson said “Ricky is huge for me and his versatility also helps me with my team selection. The club were very loyal to him when he got injured and I’m just delighted he has rewarded our faith in him, by signing up with us again for next season”.
Club Chairman Danny Hunter commented “it’s like a double signing for me, as Rick works tirelessly, as both a PASE coach and of course as a highly regarded first team player. He has over the last 18 month or so, made a wonderful impression with our youth structure, with our manager, with his teammates and with my day to day staff and that meant it was easy for me to sit down with him and work out a deal that would suit all parties.
“The negotiation in truth was very easy, no agents were involved, just grown ups in the room and it resulted I believe in a very happy player, a very happy chairman and a very happy gaffer”. He concluded.
