Hattrick hero Justin Shaibu says that he was delighted with the result after the 3-1 win over Torquay United on Saturday.

We spoke to the super-sub after the game, to hear his reaction on what was a difficult afternoon at Meadow Park.

“It wasn’t a pretty match, but we got the result and we’re through to the next round,” Shaibu began.

“Something had to happen, so the formation was changed a little bit and they got another red card. It was good that I got to come on and score three goals.

“I’m happy, but the most important thing is that we got the result and we can move forward from here.”

What was always going to be a difficult game wasn’t helped by the weather on Saturday, and the Brentford loanee admitted that it was challenging.

“It was tough conditions, and we could have done better. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but you just have to take on the conditions. We did that, and we got the result, which is the most important thing.”

Early in the second half, The Wood trailed and Shaibu was pleased that the team could come from behind and get the result.

“It showed great character from the team. We all stuck together, and the two red cards also helped us get back into it.

“They were very good, and they came here with a good game plan.”

Looking ahead to tonight’s fixture, Shaibu said that he believes this result will give the team confidence going to Halifax Town.

“It’s a very good springboard. We will take what we can from here and try to get a result there as well.”
