Boreham Wood FC were last night informed by the National League that the 2020/21 season will now officially start on Saturday 3rd October.

The capacities at all grounds across the country will be dramatically reduced, but we’re still in very good shape based on all of the present government guidelines.

The safety procedures and protocols we have incorporated and put in place for our play-off eliminator game against FC Halifax Town and for the ‘big screen‘ initiative last Saturday, means we are very confident that we will meet every safety issue and guideline put in front of us.

As such all BWFC season ticket applications received for a 2020/21 season ticket, including our Under 12’s, who will have their free ‘tweet for a treat’ season ticket processed by August 1st, will all be part of our entry numbers and we’ll ensure they fit into our entry criteria.

Chairman Danny Hunter said, “We now know what we need to do and that’s get ready for a October 3rd, but first I feel its time to give the players and dressing room staff a few weeks off after the play offs, to recharge themselves, to collect their thoughts, to reflect on the circumstances of us coming up a bit short on the day and for those yet to sign their deals, to get them over the line and coming back hungry and stronger.

“It will allow us in the meantime, to finish off our site builds, to complete our academy and first team recruitment. Then we can concentrate on getting the whole club back up and running in readiness for a late pre season and hopefully successful 2020/21 season?

“I’m so proud of the way my staff, our players, our supporters, our sponsors, our ever growing BWFC community and the club, have grown collectively, while tackling the obstacles that we’ve all faced since March.

“The club has collectively met head on whatever the pandemic has brought to our door, with a work ethic, social responsibility and a moral compass, that I know will make us stronger for the experience. For me it’s brought us ever closer and it will I feel, give us every opportunity to challenge for promotion once again next season.

“People I hope, will now want to take up our incredible Adult and OAP season ticket offer of just £149 ASAP as that’s just £6.47 a game and that’s still on offer. If you take that offer, it does guarantee the ‘Wood Army’ entry next season, and it makes sense, as I genuinely don’t think that there will be any pay on the day match-day entry early on next season and our home crowd capacity might be fixed at around 600…” Hunter concluded.
