Speaking to Ian Allinson the day after our superb win at Eastleigh there are high hopes for the coming season. The players resume training on July 1st and Allinson is pleased with his lot. “ We have had a fantastic second half of the season and claimed 38 points with a healthy goal difference. Had we replicated that in the first half of the campaign we would have made the play offs!”

His sides performance against Eastleigh left him both purring and pensive. “ We were tremendous and showed again what we are capable of. However when you compare it to our games against Staines Town and Hayes and Yeading United recently the inconsistency is something we need to fathom out. You cannot blame tiredness given the heroics my side performed over 120 minutes against Bishops Stortford then getting a win against the Champions three days later. I believe it falls down to the inexperience within the side given how young we are as a unit. That is something I will have a look at before the start of the season.”

Wood have done a lot in preparing a side for next season already with the majority of the squad already signed. The main area that has yet to be addressed is the question of strikers. That situation is likely to be worked upon within the next few weeks.

With a busy pre season featuring the likes of Arsenal, Reading, Watford and Luton due to visit, with more fixtures against top class sides still to be announced and the opening of the fabulous new stand, it promises to be another cracking year for Boreham Wood Football Club as they enter their fifth season at Conference South Level.
