For the second year running a QPR X1 will visit Meadow Park for a Pre season friendly, to face a well prepared Boreham Wood. On Wednesday 20th July, a side full of youngsters, and first team players unfortunate enough not to make the ‘Super Hoops’ squad for its tour of Devon and Cornwall, will take the field to face a competitive ‘Wood’ side, kick off 7.30pm.

Having won the Npower championship last season, winning promotion the haloed Barclays Premier League, QPR will be looking to be flying out the blocks come their opening fixture, when they host Bolton Wanderers at Loftus Road. So an open, attacking game is in store.

Last season a side featuring first team players Antonio German, Max Ehmer, Rowan Vine and Boreham Wood loanee Elvijs Putnins, as well as a host of young professionals and trialists, played out a 1-1 draw. Wood led for most the game through an early goal from Leon Hunter. But late on, a slip up from youngster Charlie Hunter allowed Max Ehmer to capitalise, scoring the equaliser.

Over the past two years, a very good relationship has built up between Neil Warnock, Mick Jones and Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter. This led to the generous loaning of Elvijs Putnins to the ‘Wood’ and he was influential in our survival. All at Boreham Wood look forward to welcoming QPR to Meadow Park for this eagerly anticipated Pre season friendly match, and thank them once again for sending a side to Meadow Park.

Address: Boreham Wood Football Club, Meadow Park, Broughinge Road, Borehamwood, Herts, WD6 5AL.
