Tom Hitchcock

Boreham Wood FC are delighted to finally announce the signing of forward Tom Hitchcock.

At just 24, Tom already has a vast amount of experience having played all his football in the Championship, League One and League Two during his career to date.

Hitchcock originally started at the Watford Academy, however after his father and ex Chelsea keeper Kevin, took up a coaching role with Blackburn Rovers, Tom moved up north and joined the Rovers Academy, making his debut for the reserves in 2009.

In July 2011 Hitchcock was loaned out to Plymouth Argyle for 3 months making 10 appearances. After leaving Blackburn Tom joined QPR on a one year deal and made his debut for the club, coming on as a substitute for Bobby Zamora against Ipswich Town and scored a 90th minute winner for the Hoops.

Following limited opportunities at QPR, Tom joined Rotherham United on Loan and scored 5 goals in 7 appearances in League One which caught the eye of MK Dons who signed the forward on a 3 year deal.

Hitchcock made 12 appearances for the Dons, before spending time on loan at Fleetwood Town, Crewe and Stevenage before departing the Dons in August 2016.

On getting Tom signed on the dotted line, club Gaffer Luke Garrard said “Myself and the Chairman have as usual had to be patient, as we’ve been trying to tie this one up on more than one occasion. This time though the situation suited all parties and, I can’t wait to get started with the player.

“Tom knows he needs come in, work hard and do well to get his career kick started again. Both myself, the Chairman and my coaches believe he can do that with us and, he looks fit and raring to go based on training today and as such he’ll go straight into the match day squad this Saturday.
