Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that centre half Charlie O’Loughlin has been selected for England Universities and if he continues his season long good form, he remains hopeful of then being selected for the British Universities squad that will travel to Russia in the summer to compete in the student games.

The club are thankful to Steve Guinan the England University manager who has agreed that Charlie can miss the England game next week against Wales due to it clashing with our re arranged fixture against Eastleigh.

We are also thankful to both the Conference league and Havant and Waterlooville, who have agreed to allow us to re arrange our fixture from Monday, 8th April to Tuesday, 16th April.

Chairman Danny Hunter said “I’m absolutely delighted for the boy and this will allow Charlie the chance to play for England Universities against their Scottish counterparts and is a well-deserved accolade for him. Timing and compromise from all parties was needed for this to happen and we need to thank all concerned for allowing this, in what is a busy period of the season. Charlie can now  look forward to playing against the Auld enemy and impressing the British University selectors even further which I’m sure he will do.” Hunter concluded
