BWOOD PASE ACADEMY

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce another record breaking Academy trial for the 2014/2015 season. The PASE Academy’s coaches welcomed over 145 trialists to Meadow Park to show off their talent in front of the watchful eyes of Boreham Wood Football Clubs Academy coaches, which was a record number for a 2nd trial..

FA cup webAs boys registered for the trial, the volume of numbers impressed the BWFC coaches. With an official 10.00am registration; by 9.10am we had over 30 boys; by 9.30am over 50 boys; by 9.50am over 100 boys; by 10.20am 140 boys; and with a few latecomers the final number for the trial was 145 boys!

With such impressive numbers, the trial was split into three separate groups. The groups of players were assigned to Head Coach Luke Garrard, Mario Noto and ex- Watford player Matty Whichelow. In the morning, the first group went onto the 3G astro turf to impress the coaches through their footballing ability, whilst the second and third groups and their parents received an informative talk from Boreham Wood FC Chairman Danny Hunter, filled out their education forms, and had a tour of the facilities including our new 890-seater West Stand.

LUKE-GARRARDOverall the coaches were impressed with the lads and Academy Director Luke Garrard said “We are very happy with the response we have had this year in terms of student/player numbers. Everyone of the staff involved with the Club and the PASE Academy need thanking as they have worked tirelessly over the past months in the recruitment process and their hard work is paying off “..

Garrard continued “The standard of players was of a level that we can work with and improve. I believe that we put on an enjoyable trial for them all and they got an insight of the Club, the coaching, its facilities, and the education provision that’s provided, so all in all, it was a great day for the PASE Academy.”

The PASE Scheme started by Boreham Wood Chairman Danny Hunter has over the years has come on leaps and bounds from its inauguration in 2002. The PASE Scheme and youth structure in that time has won National Titles, multiple leagues and cups, while producing 14 England Internationals at Schools and College level over the last 6 years. That number is more than any other club or scheme at our level in the entire Country.

JAME, MAXWELL & HARRY 2Hunter said “We have progressed many of our boys in the last 10 years to play at a senior non-league or professional level of football and presently we have 3 England College Internationals, 7 PASE Scheme players in our First Team squad and playing at Conference South Level. In addition, we have helped five of our old youth team players into the professional game. In fact Lee Hodson, and Matthew Whichelow both played first team football with Championship Watford FC, Kyle Vassell is now doing well at Peterborough Utd. While Pelly Ruddock left us to join East London giants West Ham United in 2012 after he enjoyed a trial and impressed Hammers boss Sam Allardyce. Pelly has since (for an undisclosed transfer fee), joined The Skrill Conference leaders Luton Town FC on a permanent basis and he is doing fantastically well.” Hunter Concluded
